Associate Professor James Birt from the Faculty of Society and Design at Bond University speaks about the benefits of Open Access (OA) publishing in this second Open Access Week interview.  

Interactive mixed reality research, along with computer science, games and visual art, are James Birt’s passion and areas of expertise which he converses about with enthusiasm in this interview. His innovative research and teaching in these areas has seen him successfully develop and run the Mixed Reality Research Lab in collaboration with researchers from Bond and other institutions.

Open Access runs closely behind research in importance in James’ pursuit to explore and develop emerging technologies with students and colleagues, and he is dedicated to publishing his research accomplishments in OA journals, conference papers and quality online public resources.

Quality control is essential in Open Access publishing and James, as you will hear in the interview, is an active proponent and peer reviewer in this space.  He is resolute in his stance that OA publications must meet the best standards of publishing as they deliver research knowledge and achievements to the wider community.
