October 23, 2019

Resource Lists (Leganto) supports OA resources

CiteIt tool now works with OA sites. It harvests the metadata from the page and adds them straight into your resource list along with their Creative Commons license information. It now works with:

Other features include:

  1. Searching for readings in Resource Lists retrieves the same OA records that you find when using Library Search.
  2. Search results can be limited by the Open Access filter
  3. Results show an open padlock icon to indicate they are open access resources
  4. Creative Commons licence information can be recorded when you manually add a citation to a resource list to make it clear how the resource can be used by anyone

Academic staff, you might consider doing your students’ a favour and see if you can find suitable Open Access readings or text books as alternatives to expensive textbooks – it reduces students' financial burden. Talk to your Faculty Librarian for advice and help in finding appropriate OA alternatives.
