This year's annual UN International Literacy Day celebrates literacy and multilingualism. At Bond we're especially aware of the role multilingualism plays in our lives, as we're fortunate to welcome students from across the globe and support them in their studies, where English may be a second or third language.
The UN's Sustainable Development Goal number 4, has a target of ensuring all people achieve the literacy and numeracy they need, by 2030. We support this goal by offering access to our print collection to the public and managing the University's open access collections.
This year is particularly special, as it's also celebrates the International Year of Indigenous Languages. You may remember from earlier this year, Bond celebrated NAIDOC Week. As part of the celebrations, the Library added group study room signs in Yugambeh language, we you can still see posted on the doors.
