National Reconciliation Week is held annually in Australia. It coincides with two milestones - the 1967 referendum and the High Court Mabo decision.
It recognises that in order to foster a positive relationship between Aboriginal and Torres Straight Islander peoples and the broader Australian community, we need a foundation of truth. This year's theme supports truth telling about Australia's history and recognises that this takes courage:
"Grounded in Truth, Walk Together with Courage"
