New features in Library Search

New features in Library Search

Over the weekend an update to the Library Search software was released. This brings some great new features:

  1. Expanded search terms now apply when you search the entire Library collection. This feature automatically includes commonly used synonyms in your results. You can see at the top of your results list if a synonym has been included. If you want to exclude them, click on the "Just search ..." link
  2. Peer Review indicators now display in your search results. These small purple icons make it very easy to see at a glance which of the results have been peer reviewed.
  3. Saved searches created before May 2017 were hidden when the new user interface of Library search was deployed. With this software release, those old searches have been translated to use the new syntax. You may find a search or two you had forgotten about. Note that if the search included publication dates and language in the search terms, then the results may not work as expected.
  4. Accessibility improvements have also been deployed in this release. These include better use of hierarchical headings to support improved navigation for those using screen readers, and attention to the focus when dialog boxes are opened and closed.

The release was not without a hiccup though. Customers were not able to log in to Library Search on the day following deployment. This has now been resolved, and we apologise for the inconvenience.
