The John Mac Foundation Book Drive

Post date:
September 25, 2017

At the age of 6, Deng Adut (2017 NSW Australian of the Year) was forced to fight in the war that eventually split his homeland of Sudan. Trained as a child soldier, Deng eventually made his way to Australia and is now making a difference as a lawyer and an advocate. Deng recognises the importance and opportunity that education can make and has been sending books back to Sudan so those less fortunate can be educated.

What we need from you...

Books!! Textbooks, children's books, fiction books, legal books ... any book that is still in good condition will be gratefully received. The John Mac Foundation is collecting books to send to South Sudan. A shipping container and postage to Africa has been generously donated by Patrick Container Terminals, a Brookfield owned company.

Library Services is collecting your books from Monday, 25 September to Sunday, 1 October 2017.

Please leave your books in the designated collection boxes on Level 2 of the Main Library, opposite the Library Services Desk.
